Response of subcutaneous vessels to venous distention.

چکیده
SINCE the presentation of experimental evidence suggesting that a rise in venous pressure produces an increase in peripheral resistance, many reports have appeared regarding the site as well as the existence of such a response." The increased resistance to blood flow following venous distention has been explained by some workers as due to reflexly-induced arteriolar constriction through central connections and by others on the basis of a local response. The investigation reported here was undertaken to ascertain the site of vasoconstriction, if sucli occurred, by direct observation of subcutaneous vessels during venous distention. Observation of vessels in the wing of the bat offers many advantages for such a study. The method eliminates anesthesia and surgery, and is admirably suited for microscopic observation at high powers of magnification without disturbing the normal circulation or subjecting the animal to stress.

متن کاملHindlimb venous distention evokes a pressor reflex in decerebrated rats
The distention of small vessels caused by an increase in blood flow to dynamically exercising muscles has been proposed as a stimulus that activates the thin fiber (groups III and IV) afferents evoking the exercise pressor reflex. This theory has been supported by evidence obtained from both humans and animals. In decerebrated unanesthetized rats with either freely perfused femoral arteries or ...
متن کاملPhysical effects of increased venous and extrarenal pressure on renal vascular resistance.
AN understanding of the purely hydraulic relationships which affect the relation of pressure to flow in the complex renal vasculature is a needed background for differentiating vasomotor changes with elevated venous renal pressureand effects of extrarenal pressure. I t has not been determined, for example, whether increased venous pressure passively lowers or increases renal resistance. Venous ...
متن کاملProtein 53 expression in a mixed Labrador subcutaneous lymphoma
An 11 year – old mixed female Labrador was presented with two masses in trunk and neck. The tumoral masses were excised and sent for histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses. Histopathological examination of masses revealed diffuse infiltration of small sized lymphoid cells in subcutaneous tissue which were intense around the blood vessels. More than 10% lymphoid cells were CD3 positi...
متن کاملEffect of sodium hydrosulfide on mRNA expression of prostaglandin E2 receptors in response to mucosal acidification and distention-induced gastric acid secretion in rats
Objective(s): Prostaglandins have been shown to mediate the gastro-protective effect of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) but effect of NaHS on mRNA expression of prostaglandin E2 receptors (EP1, 3-4; EPs) has not been investigated. Therefore, this study designed to evaluate the effect of NaHS on mRNA expression of EPs receptors in response to mucosal acidification and distention-induced gastric acid ...
